Creating an Assessment

This guide covers the eligibility, guidelines, and steps to help you create, manage, and evaluate assessments effectively on JDoodle.

Who Can Create Assessments?

Only organization owners and teachers can create assessments.
Students can only take assessments when invited by a teacher or admin.


To create a new assessment:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard and click Assessments.
  2. Click Create AssessmentsCreate Assessments Manually.
  3. Enter the Name, Description, and select the Language and Version.
  4. Configure Result disclosure (manual or on submission) and Result type.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Adding Questions

Once your assessment is saved, you can add questions from the Questions tab:

  • Multiple Choice (One or Multiple Answers)

    • Choose one or multiple correct answers.
    • Auto-grading available if correct answers are marked.
  • Open-Ended

    • Set minimum and maximum word limits.
    • Requires manual grading; results cannot be auto-published.
  • Program

    • Test coding ability in any supported language.
    • Option to add starter code and specify the version.
  • True or False

    • Mark the correct option; auto-grading supported.

💡 Tip: You can add an unlimited number of questions in any mix of types.


Editing an Assessment

  • Edit → Click the pen icon beside a question.
  • Delete → Click the delete button (permanent action).
  • Reorder → Drag and drop questions to arrange them.

Result Settings

You can control when and how results are shown:

  • Manual → Teachers review and release results.
  • On Submission → Results displayed automatically upon completion.

Result Types

  • Mark & Comment → Numerical mark + feedback.
  • Mark Only → Numerical mark only.
  • Comment Only → Written feedback without a mark.

Marking Types

  • Auto-Correct → Marks based on correct/incorrect answers.
  • Auto Score/Mark → Assigns predefined scores.
  • Negative Marking → Deducts marks for wrong answers.

⚠️ Note: Open-ended questions cannot be auto-marked or auto-scored.


Creating Assessments with JDroid AI
