Create an assessment

An assessment is a set of questions for a list of students, open between two times that you choose. Programs can be run against test cases you write and marked for you, so a lot of the work is done before you look at it.

This page covers making one and publishing it. The questions, the marking, and what happens afterwards each have their own page.

Make one

Give it a title, choose the language it runs by default, and set how it should be marked. Then add your questions one at a time.

A new assessment starts as a Draft. Nothing reaches your students until you publish it, and a draft can stay unfinished for as long as you like.

If you have run a similar assessment before, you can clone it instead of building it again.

Choose who takes it

Each assessment keeps its own list of students, on its Students tab.

• Add students. Choose people one at a time.
• Add a group. Copy a whole student group into the list at once.

Adding a group copies the students into this assessment. If you change the group later, this assessment does not change. Everyone you add must be on your account.

The Teachers tab works the same way for colleagues, so someone else can help write or mark the assessment.

Publish it

When you publish, you set Opens and Closes. Between those two times, the assessment is live for the students on its list.

If you need to stop it part way through, pause it. Everything already submitted is kept, and nobody can start or continue until you resume.
