JDoodle for teachers
Your students write and run code in a web browser. There is nothing to install, they can use any machine, and every language the editor offers is available.
There are two ways to teach with JDoodle, and a place to manage your students.
Teach with the editor
Write a program, share it with your students, and work in it together.
Good for practice, live demonstrations, and group work.
Set an assessment
Give your students a set of questions with an opening and closing time. Much of the marking can happen automatically.
Good for checking what your students have learned.
What you can do
- Give every student their own copy of a program. Share one project with a student group and turn on the copy option. Each student gets their own copy, and you can open any of them to see how they are getting on.
- Work in the same file at the same time. You can see each other's cursors. Use it to demonstrate to a class, help one student, or let a group build something together.
- Put a link in your course material. Every project has its own web address. Add it to your notes, a worksheet, or an email.
- Add the editor to your learning platform. Students run the code on the page they are already reading, without going anywhere else.
- Set work for a whole group at once. An assessment has an opening and a closing time. Programs can be checked automatically against test cases you write.
- Organise students into groups. You share projects with a group, and you give assessments to a group.
Where to start
If you are setting up for the first time, read this section in order, starting with who is on your account. If you are looking for one thing, each page also makes sense on its own.
The Teams and Assessments sections hold the reference detail behind these pages.
