Plans and billing

Plans & payments shows what you are on, what it costs, and the card and invoices behind it. Reach it from Dashboard, or go to /plans-payments.

Who can open it

Role Can open it Sees payments
On your own account Yes Yes
Team owner Yes Yes
Admin Yes No
Teacher or student No No

Admins can see the plan but not the card or the invoices. Teachers and students get a note telling them to ask the account owner.

The two tabs

My Plans lists what you are subscribed to. The platform plan and the API plan are separate, so you may have one, both, or neither. Each is shown with its own state and its own actions.

Payments holds the card and the paperwork:

  • The card on file, with Update card to change it.
  • Your next payment date.
  • Every invoice, with the date, what it was for, which product, the last four digits of the card, the amount and whether it was paid. Each row links to the invoice and the receipt.

If you have never paid by card, the tab says there are no payment details. Free plans never reach it.

Changing plan

Pricing has the full comparison. You can pay monthly or yearly, and the switch on that page shows both prices before you commit.

Plans are separate for individuals and for teams. If you need a team plan, you need a team account first. See Teams.

When a change takes effect

A change happens straight away when you gain something, and at the end of the period you have already paid for when you give something up.

What you are doing When it happens What you pay today
Moving to a bigger plan Straight away Only the difference
Moving from monthly to yearly Straight away Only the difference
Moving to a smaller plan End of your period Nothing
Moving from yearly to monthly End of your year Nothing

Moving up costs only the difference because you have already paid for the rest of this period. You are not charged for it twice.

Moving down waits so that you keep what you paid for. You use the plan you have until the date it ends, and the smaller plan starts the next day. Nothing is charged in the meantime, and there is no refund, because nothing is being given back early.

You can move between the Pro and Teacher plans in either direction.

A change that is waiting

While a change is waiting to happen, your plan page says which plan is coming and on what date, and offers Withdraw the change.

You cannot make another change until that one has happened or been withdrawn. Withdrawing puts everything back the way it was: you stay on your current plan, it keeps renewing, and nothing was charged.

Cancelling

Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period, not straight away. There is no refund for the part you have paid for.

Until that date, three things stay true:

  • You keep the plan and everything it includes.
  • You can reactivate without starting again.
  • Nothing is deleted.

After that date the account drops to the free plan. Your projects stay. What you lose is the paid allowances, so anything above the free limits stops until you subscribe again.

Cancelling the API plan and cancelling the platform plan are separate actions. Cancelling one leaves the other running.

If you have a change waiting, cancelling withdraws that change instead of cancelling your plan. Do it a second time to cancel the plan itself.
